10 Cruise Hacks That Saved Our Family of 6 (And Made the Trip So Much Easier)
Taking a cruise with four kids sounded magical until I started thinking about the logistics. Tight living quarters.Six passports.Wet swimsuits everywhere.Kids constantly losing their key cards. As a mom of four getting ready to take our family of six on a cruise, I was honestly a little overwhelmed. After asking friends who cruise frequently and reading far too many cruise forums, I discovered a handful of simple hacks that made the entire trip dramatically easier. These were the items that made the biggest difference for our family. Magnetic Hooks (The #1 Cruise Cabin Hack) This might be the single best cruise tip I discovered. Most cruise ship cabin walls are metal, which means they are magnetic. These tiny but incredibly strong magnetic hooks completely transformed how we organized our cabin. We used them to hang: Wet swimsuitsBeach bagsHatsLanyardsTowels I was shocked by how strong they were. They easily held a beach bag with a full towel inside. In a tiny cruise cabin, vertical storage is everything. These hooks gave us much more usable space. Over the Door Shoe Organizer (Instant Closet Space) Cruise cabins do not have much storage, especially when you are packing for six people. We hung an over the door shoe organizer and used each pocket to organize the kids’ clothes and accessories. It became the easiest system: One pocket per outfitEasy for kids to grab what they neededNo digging through suitcases It kept the room from turning into chaos. Lanyards for Key Cards Every person on a cruise receives a key card that acts as: Your room keyYour onboard payment methodYour boarding pass when getting on and off the ship For kids, that is a lot of responsibility. We gave each child a lanyard so their card stayed around their neck. It made it easy for them to: Get into the roomBoard the ship at portsKeep track of their card We did not lose a single card the entire trip. Family Passport Holder with AirTag Pocket This was one of my favorite purchases for peace of mind. It holds six passports in one place along with travel documents, and it includes a dedicated pocket for an AirTag. One of my biggest travel anxieties is the thought of losing passports while abroad. Having them all together and trackable gave me so much reassurance. If anything ever happened such as a lost bag, stolen bag, or even just something misplaced, we could track it immediately. Durable Bag Tags Cruise ships require special luggage tags that are attached before boarding. Paper tags can tear easily during luggage handling. We used these clear durable holders to protect them. It made embarkation day smoother and ensured our bags actually made it to our room without issues. Pill Organizer This sounds simple but it was surprisingly helpful. Instead of packing multiple vitamin bottles, medications, and supplements, I preloaded everything into a pill organizer before the trip. It made mornings incredibly easy, especially when traveling with kids. I used it for: Motion sickness tabletsDigestive supplementsAllergy medicationAdvil & TylenolMelatonin It saved space in our luggage and made it easy to stay consistent with routines even while traveling. Sand Blanket for Beach Days When you stop at beach ports, this sand blanket is fantastic. The sand brushes right off and it is large enough for the whole family to sit comfortably. It packs small but made our beach excursions much more relaxing. Mesh Laundry Hamper This was a small item that made a big difference. With six people in one cabin, laundry piles up quickly. Having a lightweight mesh hamper gave us a place to throw dirty clothes instead of letting them take over the room. At the end of the cruise, packing was also easier because everything dirty was already in one place. Easy Travel Games for Downtime Cruises have plenty of activities, but there are also pockets of downtime such as waiting for meals, relaxing by the pool, or spending time in the cabin. Two games we loved: Monopoly Deal Fast, compact, and surprisingly competitive. Perfect for travel. Qwixx A very simple dice game that everyone from our 7 year old to adults enjoyed. My sister in law introduced me to it, and we've been hooked ever since! Both games are small, mess free, and easy to play anywhere. My Favorite Quiet Moment: Watercolor Painting One of my favorite moments of the entire trip was something simple. Painting on the beach. I brought the Watercolor Workbook Flowers by artist Emily Lex, and it became the most relaxing travel activity. The book walks you through simple watercolor paintings step by step. I used a water brush pen so all I needed was water and the book. It was perfect for: Quiet mornings on deckRelaxing beach timePeaceful moments while the kids swam Because it is watercolor, it also washes easily out of towels if any splashes happen. Bonus: My Essential Digestion & Energy Helpers Traveling with four kids can be exhausting in the best way. I packed the Go Go Energy and Digestion Bundle from Sips Club. It helped me stay energized and keep my digestion on track with all the cruise food. Between buffet meals, late dinners, and nonstop kid activities, it helped me: Maintain steady energyAvoid vacation bloatingKeep digestion running smoothly It was a small wellness habit that helped me feel good the entire trip. Cruising with kids is one of the most fun vacations you can take as a family. A little preparation makes a huge difference. These simple items helped us: Stay organized in a tiny cabinKeep track of important documentsEntertain the kidsActually relax When you are traveling with four kids, anything that makes life easier is worth it.
5 Easy Healthy Drink Swaps for The Family
Katy and Kath on the mic, ready to blow your minds with 5 healthy drink swaps we’ve been making around the house lately. If your fridge currently contains juice boxes, a half-finished Starbucks, and some can of something you bought because it said “functional” on the label… you’re not alone. Switch Your Afternoon Starbucks Refresher for a Support Drink Be honest. Are you emotionally attached to the Starbucks Strawberry Açaí Lemonade Refresher? Because… same. Support Sips Strawberry Spark is what I reach for on days when I crave another refresher. The flavor is a perfect dupe. Support Sips are designed to: support steady energy with our caffeine and L-theanine blend help with afternoon slumps feel lighter than another coffee hydrate when you can’t carry three drinks at once Swap Juice Boxes for Protein Drinks Juice boxes are convenient for the kids (hey, we don't judge if you steal a sip), but they’re high in sugar and don't offer any additional value. Protein Sips include: protein to help kids and adults stay full longer fiber for digestion essential vitamins for everyday nutrition This swap works especially well for: after-school snacks busy mornings days when dinner is running late And it tastes like peachy lime, so mixing it with water is honestly the easiest yes of the day. Ditch Metamucil or Miralax for Veggie Sips Veggie Sips support gut health and beat bloating without adding another chalky routine to your day. They are even great for kids, especially your picky eaters. If vegetables feel like a battle at dinner, a drinkable option can help fill in small gaps without turning every meal into a negotiation. Veggie Sips provide: plant-based fiber to support digestion vegetable nutrients that picky eaters often miss a simpler, more natural approach to everyday gut health Instead of Pre-Workout Drinks, Try Protein Sips + Support Sips Unless you are training for something extreme, you probably do not need a neon pre-workout powder. A quick combo of Protein Sips and Support Sips does the trick (yes, you can mix them!). Protein helps support muscles and recovery, while Support Sips help you feel focused and energized without overstimulation. For activities like: pilates walking yoga light strength training chasing toddlers at Target P.S. We like mixing the Peachy Protein Sips 🍑 with Lime Time Support Sips Swap Poppi and Functional Sodas for Veggie Sips Functional sodas are trendy, but they are not always the most nutrient-dense option. If you are looking for a healthier alternative to soda that offers more than probiotics alone, Veggie Sips deliver fiber and vegetables without added sugar. And if you still want the bubbles, you can mix Veggie Sips with sparkling water for that same fizzy feel.
Sips Club Drink Mixes at The Place!
I had the unforgettable opportunity to share our mission on FOX13’s The PLACE, a lifestyle show that highlights the stories, businesses, and people making a difference right here in Utah. It was such a thrill to step in front of the camera and talk about why we created Sips Club and why families across the country are turning to our drink blends to support nutrition, digestion, energy, and everyday health. From Real Family Struggles to Real Solutions As a mom and a clinical lab scientist, I’ve spent years studying health, digestion, and nutrients. I’ve lived the frustration so many families experience when nutrition gaps show up in everyday life. When my daughter struggled with tummy discomfort, I couldn’t settle for the “only option available.” I knew there had to be something better, something effective and delicious, and that’s what led to the creation of Sips Club. Seeing our products featured on FOX13’s The PLACE wasn’t just a TV moment, it was a powerful moment of validation for a mission built on science, motherhood, and real-world health needs. “And here’s what I know: many health issues are preventable with better nutrition.” - Katy Monson, CLS (ASCP) What We Highlighted on The PLACE During the segment we talked about all three of our staples — each designed to support different aspects of family health: Veggie Sips – Supports digestion, gut comfort, and relief from bloating or constipation using a science-backed blend of digestive enzymes and gut-friendly compounds. Protein Sips – Helps support balanced blood sugar and steady energy throughout the day, without sugar crashes. Support Sips – A clean, focused energy boost with a gentle caffeine + L-Theanine ratio, designed to help adults power through their day without jitters. What’s more, each formula reflects a parent’s desire for products that are clean, family-friendly, and backed by real science, not just trends. Visibility Matters: Why This Appearance Was Huge Being featured on The PLACE is more than a moment of pride, it’s exposure to thousands of local Utah families and beyond who are looking for better ways to support their well-being. It elevates our brand voice, builds credibility, and connects us with people who feel the same struggles we once did. If you missed the segment, you can catch the full video through FOX13 or follow our channels where we’ll share clips and insights from the interview. A Special Thank You To the FOX13 team for the warm welcome, to our community for cheering us on, and to every family who believes health can be both simple and enjoyable, thank you. This journey started with a question: “How can we help families feel better?” Appearing on The PLACE was another big step in answering that question, together.
